
Tacloban City – Maximizing the employment opportunities for the maritime sector, the National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP), the sole government-owned and operated training and research institution in the country, participated in the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE’s) Trabaho Negosyo Kabuhayan (TNK) Jobs and Business Fair 2022 facilitated by the DOLE Regional Office 8 on 01 May 2022 at Robinsons North, Abucay, this city.
The Jobs and Business Fair was a simultaneous event conducted by DOLE in the different parts of the country in celebration of the 120th Labor Day Anniversary with the theme “Matatag na Manggagawa, Matatag na Bansa,” offering local and overseas employment and business opportunities.”
In his welcome message, DOLE RO8 Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena encouraged the jobseekers to be more active and patient, and to maximize the job fair to their advantage by applying to as many jobs as their qualifications befit. He also delivered the Labor Day message of Secretary Silvestre Bello III. The awarding of the regional winners of Kabuhayan Awards 2022 followed after the program.
Present during the said event were NMP Executive Director Joel B. Maglunsod, Labor Representative Atty. Miguel Tezon, President of the PCCI Tacloban Leyte Mr. Eugene Tan, Regional Director of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Ms. Celerina Bato, and OIC Assistant Regional Director of DOLE 8 Atty. Cecilio Baleña.
Aside from the vacant positions offered by NMP during the Job Fair, they also distributed the Annual Master Training Schedule (AMTS) and gave out some of its personalized items as freebies to applicants and other enquirers.
Meanwhile, in continuance of its services particularly the conduct of trainings, NMP Tacloban Office now accepts trainees from outside Eastern Visayas with the implementation of the online and blended modes of training, as well as face-to-face trainings with the observation of the MARINA approved Post-Enhanced Community Quarantine Operational Plan and other health and safety protocols imposed.
