NMP Supports KAISA Program of BFP 8

TACLOBAN CITY – NMP Executive Director Joel B. Maglunsod manifested its support to the KAISA Program Call-to-Action Against Destructive Fire Campaign of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Region 8 by signing the KAISA Manifesto of Support Poster last 22 March 2021 at the NMP Complex, Cabalawan Tacloban City.

BFP launched the KAISA Program which is under its OPLAN LIGTAS PAMAYANAN, a re-activated and modified approach in fire safety awareness campaign that respect the health and safety protocols due to COVID-19 with the mission of promoting active participation of every sectors of society.

On 11 March 2021, the BFP R8 conducted a re-orientation on Fire Prevention and Safety Awareness at the NMP Conference Room, Tacloban City participated in by identified NMP personnel. Discussions provided insights about fire prevention, safety, suppression and evacuation, applicable not only in the office but also in respective homes.

The activity was conducted in observance of Fire Prevention Month being annually observed during the month of March pursuant to Presidential Proclamation 115-A issued last 17 November 1996 aimed to propagate safety consciousness by providing education and awareness among people to lessen the incidence of fire in the country.

NMP’s fire prevention and safety initiatives being implemented include among others: 1) establishment of Fire Command Center; 2) designation of Fire Safety Marshal; 3) conduct of yearly fire drills; 4) creation of different parties / teams assigned to respond during fire emergency; 5) installation of emergency fire alarm systems, smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in every room; 6) identification of mustering stations and fire directional escape routes; and 7) putting-up of illuminated exit signs.
