Launching of Inflatable Liferaft at the NMP Boat Davit Area

TACLOBAN CITY – The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP), in its pursuit of providing quality trainings to its seafarer-trainees, has launched on 17 January 2023, a new inflatable liferaft for use in the conduct of its training and practical exercises particularly for the Basic Training (BT) – Personal Survival Techniques (PST) and Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats (SCRB).

The eight (8) person capacity inflatable liferaft acquired last CY 2022, is a new addition to the NMP’s training resources which will enable particpants to better understand the procedures and techniques involved in survival at sea.

Said safety equipment will be used as a crucial component in the delivery of the aforementioned courses, thereby providing seafarer-trainees a more realistic and engaging experience.  It will also be utilized  in the marshalling activity,  a simulation of a real-life scenario in which particpants learn how to properly board a liferaft in the event of an emergency.

NMP recognizes the importance of preparing our Filipino seafarers for the challenges they may face in their careers as is commited to providing them with practical skills and knowledge by equipping them with hands-on experience.
