TACLOBAN CITY – In a bid to keep its employees well-informed and updated on the benefits available to them, the National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) conducted an orientation on the programs and services of two (2) major government insurance institutions—the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS). The orientation was held on May 2, 2025, at the NMP Training Annex Building.

In her opening remarks, Deputy Executive Director Mayla N. Macadawan emphasized that the orientation is a vital initiative aimed at ensuring NMP employees are well-informed about the services offered by the institutions and the benefits available to them. She also highlighted that the activity serves as a platform for employees to raise concerns, seek clarifications, and verify processes related to their membership. She concluded by expressing her gratitude to the representatives of both agencies for accommodating NMP’s request and generously sharing their time and expertise.

Ms. Miramar P. Zabala, Public Relations Officer III, guest speaker from PhilHealth, provided a comprehensive discussion on the agency’s various programs and services available to its members. She highlighted the importance of maximizing healthcare benefits and shared valuable insights into membership categories, contribution requirements, and the claim process. Her presentation helped enlighten the employees on how to effectively access and avail themselves of PhilHealth services.

Meanwhile, Ms. Ma. Teresa R. Cojuangco, representative from the GSIS Tacloban Field Office, gave an informative session on GSIS benefits, including retirement packages, loan programs, life insurance coverage, and other services. She also addressed employee concerns and clarified several issues raised during the open forum.

This initiative underscores NMP’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of its workforce by equipping them with relevant knowledge on the government benefits they are entitled to. By fostering awareness and understanding of these programs, NMP empowers its employees to make informed decisions for their financial security and well-being.
