NMP Executive Director, Joel B. Maglunsod together with Deputy Executive Director, Mayla N. Macadawan and Maritime Training and Assessment Head, Engr. Ponciano V. Trinidad exchanged greetings with the School President of the Biliran Province State University (BiPSU), Dr. Victor C. Cañezo Jr. during the collaborative meeting conducted on 17 June 2021 at the NMP Executive Director’s office.

The said meeting was a discussion on the possible partnership of NMP and BiPSU regarding the provision of training specifically the Basic Training and Security Awareness Training and Seafarers w/ Designated Security Duties (SAT-SDSD) courses and utilization of NMP facilities and equipment by BiPSU Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) cadets.

It can be recalled that during the previous years, the NMP already had cooperation with the said school previously known as Naval State University (NSU) on the conduct of various Pilot Classes of NMP’s courses.

This partnership aims to strengthen cooperation towards improving the quality of training programs offered to Filipino seafarers for their employment acceptability and enhanced competitiveness as part of the agency’s commitment in providing support to Maritime Higher Education Institutions (MHEIs). As of to date, NMP extends its training services to MHEIs and organization in Cebu, Davao and other areas in Luzon.
