NMP Training Pool in Progress

The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) started off the new year with renewed priorities and commitments in providing excellence in the conduct of maritime training to Filipino seafarers as a group of District Engineers and Surveyors from the Department of Public Works & Highways (DPWH) conducted an ocular inspection/site visit in the area where NMP’s proposed training pool will be constructed.

As an optimistic response to the feedback received from NMP clients, NMP Executive Director, Joel B. Maglunsod pushed for the construction of a training pool. Initial plan was laid in 2019 but due to its exclusion in the 2020 approved budget, NMP sought the assistance of the MARINO Partylist through Cong. Macnell Lusotan for the realization of the project.

After series of consultation-meetings, the MARINO Partylist manifested its support to the said undertaking.

It is noteworthy that this was conceptualized for the main purpose of providing safety and ease of use to NMP’s seafarer-trainees and further help in the mastery of their survival skills and techniques before they face the real and actual challenges at sea.

Further, the said construction is a priority in the NMP Three-Year Rolling Infrastructure Plan (TRIP) for CY 2021.
