TACLOBAN CITY – The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) takes part in the celebration of the 2019 National Children’s Month (NCM) pursuant to Republic Act No. 10661 also known as “National Children’s Month Act”.
NMP initially signified its support in the launching of the NCM celebration through the recitation of the “Panatang Makabata” of its officials, employees, Job Order Workers (JOWs) and trainees during its flag raising ceremonies on all Mondays of November 2019.
With the theme “Karapatang Pambata: Patuloy na Pahalagahan at Gampanan Tungo sa Magandang Kinabukasan” this year’s celebration of the NCM is made extra special as it coincides with the 30th Anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC).
Observance of the said activity aims to celebrate and recognize children as the most valuable assets of the nation, and to emphasize the importance of their role within the Filipino family and Philippine society.
On 26 November 2019, NMP also shared with the members of the Seafarers Pupils’ Club of the Dr. A. P. Bañez Memorial Elementary School, a Lecture on the Use of Personal Protective / Lifesaving Equipment where demonstration on the safety procedures at sea like proper donning of life vest was conducted. A total of one hundred ten (110) pupils attended the lecture composed of Grade 1-6 pupils.

Seeing the children’s happy faces and enthusiastic response and success of the activity was enough reason to make the NMP employees spearheading the activity happy and fulfilled.
