TACLOBAN CITY – Over 40 children of Barangay Cabalawan in Tacloban City availed of the Outreach / Feeding Program conducted on 27 July 2022 by the National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) through the NMP Services Association and in partnership with Brgy 97 Cabalawan and Cabalawan Elementary School.

This activity was conducted as part of the celebration of NMP’s 44th Founding Anniversary and in line with the National Nutrition Month 2022, which aimed to increase awareness for the malnutrition prevention.

With the theme “New Normal na Nutrisyon, Sama-samang Gawan ng Solusyon!,” this year’s celebration calls for strengthened nutrition interventions and solidarity towards nutrition improvement as the country shifts towards living with the COVID-19 virus. The theme signifies the key role of nutrition in building resilience from pandemic to endemic paradigm. The term “new normal” was adopted to signify a transition to a better normal while bringing the positive impacts of the pandemic to become more resilient and to prevent future pandemics.

Children enjoyed the treat of healthy foods like arrozcaldo with malunggay, boiled eggs, malunggay bread, juice and banana. Gifts were also distributed containing various school supplies and toys.
