
Tacloban City – The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) joined the Trabaho, Negosyo at Kabuhayan (TNK) Jobs and Business Fair hosted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Regional Office No. VIII held on December 8, 2021, at Robinsons Place Marasbaras.
NMP was among the several agencies who actively participated in the nationwide simultaneous job and career fair in celebration of DOLE’s 88th year Anniversary, with the theme: “DOLE@88: Tuloy-tuloy na PagTUPAD sa serbisyong tapat,” which signifies their continuous commitment to serve Filipino workers, employers and jobseekers.
The event was kicked off with an opening ceremony where Atty. Cecilio I. Balena, OIC-Assistant Regional Director, DOLE RO8, highlighted the message of this year’s theme which is to remind government workers to continually serve and fulfill their duties and responsibilities with utmost transparency and dignity, and with hard work, there is still hope that everyone can still reap the fruits of their labor amidst this pandemic.
Before the job fair was officially opened to jobseekers, DOLE 8 turned over the mountain bikes to the recipients of the BikeCINATION Project, and the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) ceremonial payout were given to beneficiaries.
The ceremony ended with a closing message from NMP’s Executive Director Joel B. Maglunsod, lauding the DOLE for coming up with a worthwhile activity to celebrate their milestones, in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Local Government Unit (LGU). ED Maglunsod added, that the activity opened wider access to employment and entrepreneurial/business opportunities for both the jobseekers and employers, which will help propel the country’s goal towards economic growth and reduction of poverty.
The event was also attended by Ms. Celerina T. Bato, Regional Director of DTI RO8 and Honorable Alfred S. Romualdez, City Mayor of Tacloban.
During the said event, NMP boosted its maritime trainings and services and distributed the Annual Master Training Schedule (AMTS) to job seekers and other government agencies. NMP likewise gave out some of its personalized items as freebies such as the 2022 Calendar, mug, umbrella and ballpen.
