NMP, NMPSA Sign 3-Year Collective Negotiation Agreement

TACLOBAN CITY – The management and the recognized employees’ union of the National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) signed a fresh 3-year Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) paving way for a progressive and harmonious relationship, aimed at attaining maximum efficiency in providing services to the public through conduct of quality trainings and relevant researches.

The NMP management represented by Executive Director Joel B. Maglunsod together with the National Maritime Polytechnic Services Association (NMPSA) President, Capt. Chito A. Go signed the 5th CNA on 11 November 2019 at the NMP Conference Room, NMP Training Complex, Cabalawan, Tacloban City. Witnessing the signing were the officials and staff of NMP and officers and members of the NMPSA.

“This CNA demonstrates the commitment of management to the welfare and well-being of its employees, who are the greatest asset of the Agency,” ED Maglunsod stressed.

“Also, this emphasizes the desire of both parties to promote the principle of shared responsibility, guarantee maximum productivity and employee discipline as well as ensure career development, among others” he added.

NMPSA President, Capt. Chito A. Go expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the successful and fruitful conclusion of the negotiation.

“I would like to thank the efforts of the CNA negotiating panel of both the management and the union. Rest assured that what were written in the CNA will be done”, said Capt. Go.

Under the CNA, both the management and association agree to extend mutual cooperation and assistance with the end in view of enhancing employees’ productivity, efficiency and work satisfaction, and to increase employees’ morale.

The CNA also provides for the inclusion of NMPSA in committees and bodies mandated by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and Civil Service Commission (CSC) such as:
a) Human Resource Merit Promotion and Selection Board (HRMPSB);
b) Personnel Development Committee (PDC);
c) Grievance Committee;
d) Gender and Development Committee (GAD);
e) Committee on Decorum and Investigation (CODI);
f) Safety and Health Committee;
g) Performance Management Team (PMT);
h) Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE) Committee; and
i) Other committees created in line with the Agency’s various programs/activities.

The CNA shall remain in force and effect for a period of three (3) years. The NMPSA is the sole and exclusive negotiating agent of all rank-and-file employees of NMP.
