TACLOBAN CITY – The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) and NMP Services Association (NMPSA) solidified its partnership anew with the forging of the 6th Collective Negotiation Agreement (CNA) on 14 September 2022 at the NMP Conference Room, Tacloban City.

NMPSA is duly accredited by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and has been recognized as the sole and exclusive negotiating agent of all rank-and-file employees of NMP since November 1987.

The CNA was signed by the NMP OIC Executive Director, Ms. Mayla N. Macadawan and NMPSA President, Ms. Ma. Chona B. Rama together with the members of the management-union negotiating panel.

During the signing, OIC ED Macadawan expressed her gratitude to the NMPSA for being a key partner to effective governance.

“I am always thankful for the support of the NMPSA in the fulfillment of various programs and projects of NMP, all for the best interest of the employees and the Agency as a whole. I hope for a sustained dialogue for a continued harmonious relationship between the management and the union”, she remarked.

Meanwhile, NMPSA President, Ms. Rama extended her appreciation to the management and the members of the negotiating panel who helped make the CNA signing possible.

Under the new CNA, both the management and association agreed to extend mutual cooperation and assistance with the ultimate goal of improving the welfare and well-being of all employees, who are the greatest asset of the Agency.

The salient provisions of the agreement include among others the joint commitment to protect employees from being deployed outside the current place of assignment in Tacloban City as NMP transitions to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and inclusion of the NMPSA in the various committees and bodies as mandated by relevant government agencies. The CNA also ensured the recognition of the basic rights of all employees, their security of tenure and provision of career development and humane working conditions.

After formal requisites such as posting, ratification, and registration of the agreement have been complied with, the CNA shall take effect for three years (2022-2025), subject to amendments, which may be made in writing and signed by both parties.
