NMPManila Opens Special Batch of IMO MC 6.09

As part of National Maritime Polytechnic’s (NMP)intensified efforts to address the insistent demand for the conduct of Training Course for Instructors (IMO Model Course 6.09) especially those coming from NCR and Luzon areas, NMP opened a special batch at its Manila Office, withaddress at 2/F Employees Compensation Commission (ECC) Building, 355 Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City.
The special batch opened covered the period 26 November to 07 December 2018 with twenty-four (24) participants.
It can be recalled that in CY 2016 part of the Manila office space was converted into training rooms allowing NMP to increase its training accommodations.
Among the NMP’s achievements in maritime training is its pioneering role in the development of continuing training programs for faculty and trainers to enhance their instructional and assessment skills through the conduct of Professional Development Courses.
Meanwhile, as the only maritime training, assessment and research institution in the country, NMP continues to upgrade its facilities and provide maritime trainings required pursuant to the Standards of Training,Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers Convention 2010 Manila Amendments including value-adding courses.
It likewise continues to use state-of-the-art facilities in the conduct of its training to ensure the quality of its maritime programs. These efforts result invaluable contributions in producing highly competitive seafarers and promoting their employability in international and national merchant fleets.

NMP also encourages seafarers to avail of the NMP-OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration) Seafarers’ Upgrading Program (SUP) which entitles the beneficiary to receive financial assistance for training costs from the OWWA.
