First PDC class conducted in the new NMP Manila office at LGLC, DOLE Bldg., Intramuros, Manila.

TACLOBAN CITY – As part of National Maritime Polytechnic’s (NMP) intensified efforts to improve the accessibility of its training programs and its office visibility, the NMP Manila Office formerly located in Makati City has now officially transferred to Labor Governance Learning Center (LGLC) Building, San Jose cor. General Luna Streets, Intramuros, Manila.

The new location will bring NMP’s IMO Model Course 6.09 (Training Course for Instructors) and IMO Model Course 3.12 (Assessment, Examination and Certification of Seafarers) closer to more seafarers in the Manila area where significant number of manning agencies and maritime higher education and training institutions are located.

Said courses are offered through the conventional method (face-to-face) with strict implementation of safety and health protocols following the Post-Enhanced Community Quarantine Operational Plan as approved by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).

Moreover, NMP is currently working on the transitioning of the aforementioned courses into online/blended learning which is targeted to be implemented within the year.

Further, NMP encourages OWWA registered seafarers to avail of the NMP-OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration) Seafarers’ Upgrading Program (SUP) and Skills for Employment Scholarship Program (SESP) which entitles the beneficiary to receive financial assistance for training costs from the OWWA.
