TACLOBAN CITY – The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) proudly announces the approval from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary to offer the Passenger Ship Crowd Management Training Course (PSCMT) FREE of charge. This development marks a significant milestone in NMP’s continuous efforts to enhance accessibility and provide quality training opportunities within the maritime industry.

The approval, driven by industry’s growing demand for comprehensive training for aspiring maritime professionals, adds to NMP’s existing portfolio of free courses. The PSCMT, closely associated with the other two (2) free passenger courses announced by NMP early this year, is essential for seafarers aspiring to board passenger vessels, whether in the international or local fleet.

Atty. Hans Leo J. Cacdac, DMW Secretary, emphasized the importance of such training in ensuring compliance with existing government laws, rules, and regulations. He expressed confidence in the NMP’s ability to  uphold the prescribed standards and guidelines issued by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) and other regulatory bodies.

NMP Executive Director Victor A. Del Rosario, expressed his enthusiasm about the approval, highlighting its role in promoting inclusivity within the maritime sector. He reiterated NMP’s commitment to providing accessible and quality training opportunities, emphasizing the significance of offering courses for free in nurturing skilled and competent maritime professionals.

The approval of the free offering of PSCMT further strengthens the collaborative efforts between NMP and DMW in addressing the needs of Filipino seafarers for skills enhancement and capacity-building interventions. Aspiring maritime professionals are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and join the upcoming sessions of the approved free courses.

Detailed information on course requirements, schedules, and enrollment will be made available on the official NMP website (www.nmp.gov.ph) and Facebook page (NMPTrainingCenter).
