TACLOBAN CITY – The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) in partnership with the local government of Mapanas, Northern Samar recently conducted Basic Safety Training for Motorboat Handlers/Operators and Fishermen with Typhoon preparedness (BSTMHOF) last 23 February 2023 at the Mapanas Gym, Northern Samar with twenty-two (22) fisherfolk- participants.

BSTMHOF is part of NMP’s corporate social responsibility program that aims to promote safety of life at sea.  It covers various topics on Personal Survival, Fire Prevention and Firefighting, Elementary First Aid, Personal Safety & Social Responsibility, Rules of the Road, Typhoon Awareness and Marine Safety Requirements. It also includes hands-on training on the proper use of life-saving equipment and procedures in case of emergencies.

The training program was met with an overwhelmingly positive response from the participants, who expressed their sincere appreciation for the invaluable opportunity to elevate their skills and knowledge. They also praised NMP for its unwavering commitment of fostering a culture of safety and implementing best practices in the maritime industry.
