TACLOBAN CITY – The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) is committed to stay on the cutting edge of technology in order to provide top-notch service to the maritime industry. As a leading maritime training and research agency, it recognizes the significance of new advancements in the Maritime Education and Training (MET) sector. NMP is continuously working to keep pace with the changing industry requirements and standards to offer relevant and up-to-date training programs.
To this end, NMP is preparing its Information System Strategic Plan (ISSP) for 2024-2026 to ensure that its information systems are aligned with its strategic objectives under the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), support its operations and programs effectively, and capture the latest advancements in MET technology. The plan outlines specific objectives, strategies, and actions to optimize the Agency’s information systems and provide quality service to its stakeholders, demonstrating its commitment to investing in technology infrastructure and remaining at the forefront of the industry.
As the maritime industry rapidly adopts with new advanced technologies, it is crucial for the training and retraining of seafarers and other maritime professionals to keep pace with these changes. NMP recognizes the importance of equipping its clients with the necessary competencies to handle these evolving technologies. As such, in line with its preparation of its ISSP, NMP sought the assistance of MET solution providers, like the Seaversity, to gain insights about the latest technologies being utilized in the industry. By doing so, NMP can ensure that its training programs remain relevant and up-to-date, and its clients are well-prepared for the demands of the maritime industry.
Securing funding for ICT resources in the 2024 budget proposal will enable NMP to continue delivering top-tier MET programs that meet the evolving needs of the maritime industry and keep Filipino seafarers ahead of the curve.
