TACLOBAN CITY — The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) is set to culminate its highly successful Learning Management System (LMS) training program for instructors and site administrators. The intensive training aimed to equip participants with essential skills to deliver high-quality, engaging online courses, propelling the institution into a new era of maritime education.

Recognizing the demand for innovation in education, NMP took a bold step by integrating STCW courses into its LMS platform. This strategic move leverages web-based technologies, resulting in a more efficient, cost-effective, and student-centric approach to maritime education and training.

The training venue was abuzz with enthusiasm as instructors and administrators delved into the comprehensive LMS training program. The interactive workshops provide hands-on experience, enabling participants to master the platform’s functionalities, deliver dynamic online courses, and efficiently manage the learning process through the use of various LMS tools and configurations.

“We firmly believe that the Learning Management System will elevate our course delivery to new heights,” shared by NMP OIC – Executive Director, Ms. Mayla N. Macadawan.  “This training has empowered us to create a truly exceptional learning experience for our trainees,” she added.

The sessions focused on assessing the effectiveness of the LMS platform, fostering a comprehensive understanding of its features, and gathering valuable feedback to align the components and course delivery functionalities of the platform with industry standards set by the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA).

Guiding the participants on their learning journey were resource persons from the Seaversity – Mr. Aries A. Eroles, Ms. Patt Nathalie M. Tubog, and Mr. Gennel Jude Batacan. Renowned for their expertise in web-based technologies and instructional design, their guidance significantly contributed to the training’s success.

NMP’s commitment to spearheading reforms in maritime education and training has borne fruit with the LMS integration. Embracing online learning allows NMP to raise the bar for the quality and accessibility of maritime education. The institution’s dedication to producing highly skilled and globally competitive seafarers remains unwavering.

As the LMS training program continues, NMP celebrates the accomplishments of its instructors and administrators, knowing that the knowledge gained will enrich the future of maritime education.
