Tacloban City – In line with its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its personnel, trainees, and stakeholders, the National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) conducted a Learning Session on Project A.B.K.D. (Awareness of Bombs that Kill Lives and Destroy Properties) on June 20, 2025, at the NMP Training Annex Building.

Project A.B.K.D. is a proactive initiative aimed at educating participants on the risks associated with bomb threats and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), promoting awareness, vigilance, and preparedness in the face of such threats. The session focused on preventive measures, proper response protocols, and reporting mechanisms in the event of a suspicious object or security threat within the premises.

Resource persons from the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Office VIII, Camp Ruperto Kangleon in Palo, Leyte, provided expert insights and practical guidance through a combination of informative lectures and hands-on demonstrations.

The activity forms part of NMP’s continuous efforts to strengthen its emergency preparedness measures and ensure a safe learning environment for all. With the increasing security concerns in various sectors, such capacity-building activities are essential in equipping employees and trainees with the knowledge and skills to respond effectively and responsibly.

NMP Executive Director Victor A. Del Rosario expressed gratitude to the organizers and participants, emphasizing the importance of such awareness campaigns in safeguarding lives and institutional assets.
