NMP ACCREDITED CPD PROVIDER

TACLOBAN CITY – The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP), the only government maritime training and research center aimed to train and upgrade the country’s maritime manpower resources through upgrading and specialization programs, has been accredited as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Provider.
The CPD Council for Electrical Engineering awarded the Certificate of Accreditation, signed by the Chairman of the CPD Council for Electrical Engineering, Francis V. Mapile, to NMP after complying with the requirements in its application as CPD provider in accordance with the “Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of Republic Act No. 10912, otherwise known as the “CPD Act of 2016” set forth by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) in Resolution No. 1032, Series of 2017 with accreditation No. OEE-2020-046.
The accreditation certificate was given on the 30th day of January 2020 and is effective until January 29, 2023.
The following are the NMP training courses that will be under the CPD Program of the agency:
- Marine Electrical Systems
- Marine Refrigeration and Air-conditioning
- Engine Room Simulator
- Auxiliary Machinery System
- PADAMS
- SHAPIMS
- EFA
- MEFA
Further, additional requirements relative to the accreditation will be submitted by the NMP for its courses to be granted for offering under CPD program and for establishing the CPD points for the particular training course.
The said program would be highly beneficial for the future endeavors of professionals in the maritime industry both for domestic and international going vessels such as Electrical Engineers, Master Electricians, Registered Nurses, Doctors, Electronic Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers.
This will open a window to professionals who want to explore and venture in the maritime industry and/ or take the opportunity to train and experience maritime related simulators on the course of their training in NMP.
The Republic Act 10912, otherwise known as the “Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Act of 2016”, is an act which requires CPD as the mandatory requirement for the renewal of Professional Identification Card. The law was fully implemented on March 15, 2017, upon the effectivity of Resolution No. 1032 or the implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of RA 10912.
On the other hand, in its effort to sustain its mandate in providing quality training, NMP continues to upgrade its facilities and provides maritime trainings required pursuant to the STCW Convention as amended in 2010 including value-adding courses towards improving the qualifications of Filipino seafarers for their employment acceptability and enhanced competitiveness. It also regularly conducts maritime studies to come up with policies for the improvement of the manpower sector of the industry.
