NMP Supports 18-Day Campaign to End VAW
TACLOBAN CITY – In firm support to the national government’s common vision for a VAW-free community, NMP bannered the color representing hope and future free from gender-based violence against women and girls through wearing of the Anti-VAWC shirt.
NMP has been actively joining the government in the 18 days of activism against gender-based violence in line with Proclamation 1172, Series of 2006 and Republic Act No. 10398 declaring November 25 to December 12 of Every Year as the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW) and November 25 of Every Year as the “National Consciousness Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and Children respectively.
Part of NMP’s Anti-VAWC advocacy activities were posting of the words of support from NMP’s Executive Director through a video clip, hanging of the 2020 18-Day Campaign to End VAW official streamer, playing of the All-Women Cast Lupang Hinirang and prayer for VAWC victim-survivors as part of the Flag Raising Ceremonies and webinar on RA 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, RA 7877 or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act and RA 11313 “Safe Spaces Act”.
NMP, the sole government maritime training and research center in the Philippines, has been a strong and consistent advocate on gender and development in the maritime industry. NMP pursues gender mainstreaming in the industry through its mandated functions – in the conduct of maritime training and research; likewise, it integrates gender concepts in its other programs / projects / activities– in general administration and support services.
Further, in order to maintain the physical distancing, the picturing-taking was held per division and in different areas inside the NMP vicinity.
