Tacloban City – The National Maritime Polytechnic’s (NMP) application for accreditation as a maritime training institution (MTI) gained the approval of Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) after a rigorous site inspection conducted on 07-11 November 2022.
In a formal letter received from MARINA on 24 November 2022, NMP’s accreditation shall be valid for ten (10) years effective upon payment of the corresponding fees. To ascertain continuing compliance with the existing MARINA rules and regulations, NMP will be subjected to a periodic monitoring and random surveillance by the MARINA STCW Office.
During inspection, MARINA assessed NMP’s compliance with the requirements prescribed under MARINA Memorandum Circular SC 2021-08. The inspection covered the following criteria: Quality Standard System (QSS), Human & Physical Resources, Planned Maintenance System and Readiness to Medical Emergencies.
