Tacloban City – The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP), in collaboration with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), facilitated the Philippine Identification System (Philsys) Institutional Registration last September 29, 2021 at the NMP Training Building, in time with the National Maritime Week Celebration. Several NMP employees and seafarer trainees availed the said registration of the national ID system which has been made more accessible to government employees and private individuals.
This initiative is part of the weeklong activity of the institution in celebration of the National Maritime Week. The main purpose of the activity is to facilitate registration of NMP trainees and employees who are still not registered for the National ID.
During the registration, the number of registrants inside the room were limited to 12 to ensure that physical/social distancing is followed, while the gadgets used such as the fingerprint and eye scanners were constantly disinfected.
The Philsys is the government’s central identification platform that aims to establish a single national identification system for all Filipino citizens and resident aliens in the country, pursuant to the Republic Act No. 11055 or the Philippine Identification System Act. The national ID can be used as a proof of identification for all transactions, whether in government agency or private institution and can also be used outside the country.
